Kingsmen Sweep on Senior Night

THOUSAND OAKS, Cal. —California Lutheran University men's volleyball celebrated the 2022 seniors with a sweep of the Moorpark College Raiders on Thursday night.

The Kingsmen honored setter Seamus McDonagh, outside hitters Jonathan Silva, Connor Hinthorn, and Sean Fitzpatrick, and libero Eli Moore for their dedication and contributions to the program. All of the seniors started the match and ended with the four front row players leading the team in kills while the libero Moore led the team in digs.

Cal Lutheran took the first set with ease jumping from a 14-14 tie to a 23-14 lead on the back of a Connor Hinthorn serving run. The Kingsmen finished the set on a Jonathan Silva kill and a Keven Lynch ace for a 25-15 win.

In the second set, the Kingsmen established their dominance at the net. The offense racked up 14 kills on a .370 hitting percentage. The defense held the Raiders to just 2 kills in the set and a hitting percentage of -.294. That discrepancy helped Cal Lutheran take an easy 25-13 win in the set.

The Kingsmen continued to hold the Raider offense down in the third set, forcing another negative hitting percentage from their opponents. This was enough for the Kingsmen to control the set from the beginning en route to a 25-15 win and a 3-0 sweep in the match.

Sean Fitzpatrick led with 7 kills, Seamus McDonagh had 6, Connor Hinthorn had 5, and Jonathan Silva tallied 3 for an all senior top 4.

Eli Moore led the defense with 6 digs.

The Kingsmen will finish off the 2022 regular season at home against UC Santa Cruz on Saturday at 4:00pm.
