Weber’s Career-High 19 Kills Lead Kingsmen Past Spartans

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Ben Weber recorded 19 kills, Sean Fitzpatrick had a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs and California Lutheran University men's volleyball defeated the Aurora Spartans 3-1 on Thursday night. Scores of the match were 25-17, 25-16, 21-25, 25-19. 

It was a career-high for Weber, and he hit with a percentage of .326. His 19 kills led the Kingsmen to 10-6 on the season and dropped the Spartans to 9-5. 

Fitzpatrick showed off an all-around game and recorded his second double-double of the year. He added a match-high four service aces and two block assists to go along with his kills and digs. 

Jake Tucker just missed a double-double as he tallied nine kills and 10 digs. Tucker was one of three Kingsmen with 10-plus digs as Eli Moore was the third and led his squad with 14. 

Taylor Marks kept the offense moving with 37 assists. He added seven digs, two aces and one solo block. Borys Horiuk led the team with three blocks.

After taking the first two sets, the Kingsmen were humbled in the third. All focus shifted to the fourth. Cal Lutheran came up with clutch play after clutch play as the Kingsmen put the finishing touches on the match. 

The Kingsmen are back in action with two matches. They host the first day of the Cal-Lu-fornia Classic and play St. John Fisher at noon and Wentworth at 7 p.m.
