Kingsmen Sweep No. 6 Milwaukee School of Engineering, Fall to No. 12 Dominican

RIVER FOREST, Ill.— The Cal Lutheran men's volleyball team played back-to-back games on Saturday as the Kingsmen swept No. 6 Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), but got swept by No. 12 Dominican (Ill.)

The second day of the road trip saw a split as the Kingsmen are 7-7 on the season. Scores against MSOE were 25-23, 25-21, 25-23, while scores for Dominican were 18-25, 17-25, 17-25. CLU gave MSOE its first loss of the season.

The Kingsmen improved throughout the match as they hit .172 in the first set, .370 in the second and .290 in the third. Cal Lutheran made quick work of MSOE with the game length being just one hour and 15 minutes. CLU tallied five service aces and four team blocks.

Andrew Reina led the way with 12 kills and Patrick Rowe was next with 11. Justin Dietrich was all over the court with seven kills, three aces, three digs and three block assists. Jacob Cudiamat kept the offense moving with 37 assists and added a team high six digs. 

CLU vs. DU

Dominican continued its undefeated season as the No. 12 team in the country shut down the Kingsmen. The Stars had an impressive day from the field and recorded a hitting percentage .425 while holding CLU to .230.

Dietrich recorded a team high 10 kills and hit with a .562 clip while Rowe, Reina, Nick Christy and Kelly Jew each added five. Blake Zingerman and Cudiamat split time at the setter position and dished out 18 and 13 assists, respectively. Connor Hinthorn had the most digs with seven and Eli Moore and Reina were next with four apiece. 

Cal Lutheran has one last day of its Illinois trip on Sunday with two more games. The Kingsmen play Aurora at 10 a.m. and Benedictine at 12:30 p.m.
