Cox Nabs 110m Hurdle Title at First SCIAC Multi Dual of 2019

REDLANDS, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen picked up a total of 11 top-five finishes in the first SCIAC Multi Dual of the season against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, La Verne and Redlands. 

Leading the way, freshman Evan Cox shined in the 110-meter hurdles, coming in first at 16.02 seconds. The next freshman on the podium, Brendon Carbullido claimed second in the triple jump at 12.32 meters in addition to fourth in the long jump at 6.07 meters. 

Rounding out the podium trio, junior Chris Brodnax took third in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 50.54 seconds. He went on to also take fourth in the 4x100 relay alongside Cox, freshman Hasant Moses-Hillman and senior Trent Mosley (44.05 seconds).

In the distance races, sophomore Connor Neufeld-Griffin came in fifth in both the 800-meter (2:02.72) and 1500-meter (4:07.07) runs. 

Moving on to the field events, freshman Connor Judd finished fourth in the high jump (1.56m), senior Josiah Le Doux-Hayes claimed fourth in his very first pole vault event (2.9m), senior Anthony Flores went fourth in the hammer throw with a new lifetime personal record (41.70m) and junior Christian Rivers finished fifth in the long jump (6.00m).

Overall, the Kingsmen fell to La Verne 92-64 and Redlands 120-40. The team returns to the track next Saturday, March 9, at the OXY Distance Carnival/Spring Break Classic in Occidental, California.
