THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's tennis wrapped up its 2021 season as the Kingsmen beat the Chapman Panthers for the third time this season with a score of 5-4.
Darvel Lossangoye clinched the win for Cal Lutheran on Saturday. The final score of Lossangoye's match was 6-4, 6-3, and resulted in a Kingsmen series win of 3-1 over the Panthers.
After going down in the first doubles match by a score of 8-1, the Purple and Gold fought back. Corey Karen and Shawn Rothermel fell 8-1 in the No. 1 spot.
The match consisted of three doubles matches and the Kingsmen finished on top in the next two. The wins were by Lossangoye and Ryan Murphy (8-5) who took the No.2 spot as well as Charlie Spina and Sean Yaghoubi (8-7) at the No. 3.
Spina and Karen each won a singles match to join Lossangoye. Taking the No. 5 spot, Karen won 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. Spina took the No. 6 spot, 6-5, 6-2. The dual went back and forth as Chapman won a match after Spina and Karen's, and won two more after Lossangoye's win.
CLU's Isaiah Volk lost 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 3, Rothermel fell 6-4, 6-3, at the No. 5 and Ben Vincze was defeated 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 6.
The Kingsmen ended their season winning four of their last five duals.
Cal Lutheran men's tennis finalizes their season on a high note and looks ahead to the 2021 season.
