THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Darvel Lossangoye clinched at the No. 3 spot and Cal Lutheran men's tennis hung to to defeat Ventura Community College 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Kingsmen have won three of their last four duals, all by a score of 5-4.
The match started with doubles, and the Kingsmen took two out of the three. Corey Karen and Jacob Bear lost at the No. 1 spot, 8-2. The Purple and Gold bounced back to take the next two points.
Ryan Murphy and Lossangoye won 8-6 at the No. 2 and Ben Vincze and Sean Yaghoubi took the No. 3 with 8-7 (4).
In singles, Ventura Community College tied up the dual as Ryen Wagner lost 6-1, 6-0, at the No. 6. The dual would go back and forth as Karen won 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 2 and Yaghoubi lost 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 at the No. 4.
With the score tied at 3-3, VC took the lead as Shawn Rothermel fell 7-5, 1-6, 6-4, at the No. 5. The Kingsmen needed the last two single wins to take the dual, and they did just that.
Charlie Spina claimed the No. 1, 6-2, 7-5, and Lossangoye clinched at the No. 3, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
The Kingsmen have won last dual this weekend. Cal Lutheran host Chapman on Saturday at 10 a.m.
