THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.— The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen outplayed their Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents, the Whittier College Poets, Friday afternoon, by winning 8-1.
Starting off the day with doubles, Yahn Gawrit and Isaiah Volk, No. one, won 8-3. Ransom Braaten and Jake Haffner, No. two doubles, continued with a win, 8-5.
Aaron Moylan and Ryan Murphy, No. three doubles, were outplayed 8-7 (3).
Moving on to singles matchups, Michael Sulahian, No. six, won 6-1 and 6-1; Gawrit, No. one, won 6-1 and 6-2; Braaten, No. two, won 6-1 and 7-5; and Jake Haffner, No. four singles, won 6-4 and 7-6 (4).
Moylan, No. five singles, clinched the win for the Kingsmen by winning 6-1 and 6-3.
Volk, No. three singles, won his first set 6-3, but fell the second 7-6 (6), taking his opponent to a tiebreaker. Volk got the win for himself, and the Kingsmen, by winning the tiebreaker 10-6.
The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen travel to the University of St. Katherine's Saturday, April 13that 11 AM PST.
