SANTA BARBARA, Calif.— The Westmont Warriors, NAIA nationally ranked No. 17 team, could not hold off the Cal Lutheran singles dominance, lifting the Kingsmen to a 7-2 victory, Tuesday afternoon.
The doubles, starting with Jake Haffner and Isaiah Volk, took a win 8-4 on court one, to start the competition. Followed by court three with Hitachi Hu and Matthew Quade falling 1-8, and court two with Aaron Moylan and Ryan Murphy falling 5-8.
The Kingsmen swept all six singles matches, though, with five of them being wins in third set super tie-breakers.
Continuing onto singles play, Guillaume Ruaud took the first win 0-6, 6-2, 13-11. Haffner was not far behind on court one, (2-6, 6-3, 10-6) taking the second win for the Kingsmen singles.
The rest of the Kingsmen singles took wins starting withSulahian (4-6, 6-0, 10-4) on court four, Moylan (7-5, 7-3) on court five, Sebastian Ariza (2-6, 7-5, 10-8) on court six, and Volk (2-6, 6-3, 10-7) on court two.
The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen look to take this victory into their next matchup Sunday, Feb. 24, at Occidental at 2 p.m. PST.
