Kingsmen Fall to Sagehens 6-3 in Season Opener

CLAREMONT, Calif.— The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen started the season against the No. 8 nationally ranked Pomona Pitzer Sagehens, and fell just short 6-3. 

On court one, Isaiah Volk and Jake Haffner paired up, but struggled against Octave Bellet and Josh Gearou, falling by a final score of 8-4. Florent Auteil and Isaac Pashenkou gave it their all together but fell 8-4. While on court three, Ryan Murphy and Kylel Gillam finished off doubles play but couldn't keep up with an 8-0 final. 

Moving on to singles play, Guillaume Ruaud on court three, brought home a win for the Kingsmen, finishing 3-6, 6-3, and 10-7 for the first victory of the day. Not far behind, Aaron Moylan added another win finishing 2-6, 6-3, and 6-4. Last to take home a win for the Kingsmen was Volk, 6-4 and 7-4. 

Rounding out the group, Haffner came up short on court one (1-6, 1-6), Michael Sulahian on court four (3-6, 5-7), and Pashenkou on court six (0-6, 0-6). 

The Kingsmen look forward to the court again this Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Westmont at 1 p.m. PST.
