Kingsmen Fall to Bulldogs

REDLANDS, Calif. — The California Lutheran men's tennis team battled hard, but fell to the Redlands Bulldogs 6-3 Friday afternoon at the Verdieck Courts.

The Kingsmen dropped to 4-10 on the season and 2-2 in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play. Redlands improved to 10-7 and 3-3 in conference.

Cal Lutheran had a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Yahn Gawrit and Lucas Tilly were dominant in the No. 1 doubles spot and won 8-3. The Kingsmen also took the point in the No. 3 spot as Redalnds did not play. Dara Kashani and Andrew Tufenkian fell at the No. 2 with a score of 9-7.

Redlands won all of the singles matches, except for the No. 6 spot, which they didn't play. The Bulldogs used singles play to secure the 6-3 win. Gawrit retired at the No. 1 (7-6 (5), 2-1), Ransom Braaten fell at the No. 2 (6-1, 6-1), Tilly was defeated at the No. 3 (6-3, 6-2), Kashani lost at the No. 4 (6-3, 6-2) and Michael Sulahian fell at the No. 5 (6-4, 6-4).
