Kingsmen Come Up Empty Against Loggers

TACOMA, Wash.— The Cal Lutheran men's soccer team and Puget Sound played 90 minutes of rough, competitive soccer as the Kingsmen fell to the Puget Sound Loggers on Sunday with a final score of 3-0.

The Kingsmen dropped to 0-2 and were shut out for the second straight time. The Loggers got their first win of the season and are now 1-0-1.

The game combined for 31 fouls, 20 by the Kingsmen and 11 from the Loggers, with six yellow cards handed out. 

The pace of play was controlled by the Loggers as they outshot the Kingsmen 9-6 with four shots on goal compared to CLU's 2. 

The game was scoreless through the first 30 minutes, with each team having their chances. Aaron Winsick and Daniel Pacheco both had a shot for the Kingsmen, but could not convert. 

The Loggers finally broke through in  the 32nd minute and added another goal in the 43rd minute as they took a 2-0 lead at the half. PSU converted on another goal just five miutes into the second half and took a commanding 3-0 lead.

The Kingsmen did not back down as Justin IrungarayIgor LumbranoAdrian Graciano (twice) all took shots as they looked to end the shutout. However, it was Puget Sound's defense and goalkeeper came out on top as the Loggers recorded their first shut out of the year. 

After being on the road for the first two games, the Kingsmen return home for their first contest in William Rolland Stadium. They will play a five-game homestand, starting with Concordia (Texas) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
