Cal Lutheran hosts Chapman in SCIAC Tournament

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – The field for the 2017 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Men's Soccer Tournament has been set. Cal Lutheran is the No. 2 seed and will host No. 3 Chapman Wednesday, at 7 p.m. inside William Rolland Stadium in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

The Kingsmen (11-4-2, 9-3-2 SCIAC) take on the Panthers (9-6-3, 9-4-1) in the first round while No. 1 Redlands (13-3-2, 12-0-2) hosts No. 4 Pomona-Pitzer (8-7-2, 7-5-2). The Kingsmen defeated the Panthers in the two regular season matchups with scores of 2-0 and 2-1. The winner of the two semi-final games will meet in the finals on Saturday on the campus of the highest remaining seed.

Cal Lutheran secured the second seed in the conference tournament having gone unbeaten in five of its last six matches. The Kingsmen are led by Diego Ortega who notched 20 points, including nine goals and a pair of helpers during SCIAC play. Joey Arnold added seven goals and 17 total points against league competition, while Brandon Kearney chipped in 11 points on the strength of four goals and three assists. Goalkeepr Eduardo Garcia has registered a 0.75 goals-against average, and turned away 57 shots on target to highlight seven clean sheets. 

Video and Live Stats will be available for the match and tickets will be sold at the entrance. Children under the age of 12 as well as students, faculty and staff with ID will receive free admittance. Tickets for seniors (55 and older) and veterans will be $5 while admission for all others is $10.
