VENTURA, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran men's golf team and Hudson Solters recorded the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history at the CA State Intercollegiate. The team fired 862 strokes, five behind the school mark, and Solters had 210 strokes, just two behind.
The CA State Intercollegiate is one of three tournaments the Violet and Gold will play this fall. The tournament featured 10 teams and 60 individuals. The golfers shot two rounds on day one and one round on day two.
The Kingsmen placed third at 2-under par. They recorded rounds of 289, 286 and 287 for the second-lowest all-time mark.
Solters was competing individually and was two strokes behind the program record at 6-under-par. He carded a 69-70-71-210 and tied for fifth.
Competing for the team total was Tanner Stewart, Adam Cartozian, JP Guimaraes Jr., Jot Singh and Blake Fitzhugh. Stewart tied for 13 th at 1-under-par (73-71-71-215), Cartozian was Even and tied for 17 th (72-71-73-216), Guimaraes Jr. tied for 19 th at 1-over-par (75-71-71-217), Singh tied for 19 th at 1-over-par (69-73-75-217) and Fitzhugh tied for 33 rd at 8-over-par (76-76-72-224)
Competing Individually with Solters was William Moser, Jacob Fox, Garet Needham, Jimmy Solano and Derek Hahn. Moser tied for 22 nd at 3-over-par (72-74-73-219), Fox tied for 26 th at 4-over-par (79-68-73-220), Needham tied for 39 th at 9-over-par (75-75-75-225), Solano tied for 39 th at 9-over-par (79-74-72-225) and Hahn tied for 53 rd at 16-over-par (79-76-77-232)
The Kingsmen continue their fall season next week. Cal Lutheran will compete in the Redlands Bulldog Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the Redlands Country Club. The days are set to start at 8 a.m.
