Kingsmen, Singh Runner-Up at Tempest Intercollegiate; Three Kingsmen in Top-10

GLADEWATER, TexasJot Singh was the runner-up at the Tempest Intercollegiate, leading the California Lutheran University men's golf team to the same finish in the final tournament of the fall.

The team's three-round score of 888 strokes tied for the sixth-best total for a 54-hole tournament. It gave them their best finish of the fall, at Tempest Golf Club, which was hosted by LeTourneau University. The event featured 11 teams, 67 individuals and had a Par of 72.

Singh, William Moser, Adam Cartozian, JP Guimaraes Jr., Hudson Solters and Derek Hahn competed for the second-place finish for the Purple and Gold as they finished at 24-over-par. The team shot 294 in each of the first two rounds, but shot a 300 in round three and came up 10-strokes shy of the tournament title. The team led the field with 54 birdies, eight more than the next squad.

Singh was on a roll for the Kingsmen over the first two rounds a fired a 2-under-par 70 in both rounds. He followed those up with a 77 as he took home silver with 217 strokes, 1-over-par, just one behind the leader. He tied for second in scoring average on Par 5s (4.58) and third on Par 3s (3.00). He tied for the most birdies at the tournament with 13.

Moser and Cartozian made it three Kingsmen, and three freshmen, in the top-10. Cartozian tied with Singh for best scoring average for Par 5s (4.58) and recorded 10 birdies and one eagle. Moser tied for the fourth-best scoring average for Par 4s (4.07) and had 10 birdies.

Moser matched Singh in the first round and carded a 70. He shot a 75 in each of the two next rounds and totaled 220 strokes. He finished at 4-over-par and in sixth.

Cartozian made it three Kingsmen in the top-10 as the trio of freshmen impressed. He started his tournament with a 77 over the first 18 holes. He fired a 73 in the second and third round, and moved up four spots on the final day and tied for 10 th. He tallied 223 strokes and finished at 7-over-par.

Guimaraes Jr. and Solters both had solid tournaments as they tied for 29th. Guimaraes Jr. finished 77-78-76-231 and Solters shot 79-76-76-231 as they finished 15-over-par.

Hahn made it six Kingsmen in the top-40. He tied for 36 th at 18-over-par with 234 strokes (81-77-76).

The tournament concluded the fall competition for the Kingsmen. The Purple and Gold start their spring season in February.
