FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Cal Lutheran men's golf team finished seventh, led by Jeffrey Perry as he tied for seventh, at the Royal Lakes Fall Invitational which was hosted by Oglethorpe University on Monday and Tuesday.
The tournament featured 18 teams and 102 individuals, it had a Par of 72 and was held at the Royal Lakes Golf Course. The teams played 18 holes on each day.
The Kingsmen fired a 3-under-par 285 in the first round, but followed it up with a 293 in the second. The Violet and Gold dropped two places during the final 18 holes and were seventh at 2-over-par with 578 strokes. Winning the tournament was Hampden-Sydney College with 559 strokes.
Perry was impressive in round one as he fired a 5-under-par 67 and was tied for second. The second time around proved to be harder for the freshman as he shot a 73, fell back five spots and tied for seventh. He finished 4-under-par with 140 strokes. In two of the three fall tournament, he has placed in the top-10.
Stefan Nelson made it two Kingsmen in the top-20 as he tied for 19th. He shot a 73 in the first round and fired a 70 in the second round as he jumped up 14 spots and into the top-20. He finished his tournament at 1-under-par with 143 strokes.
The next highest-finisher for the Kingsmen was Ryan Kyaw. He tied for 34th at 2-over-par with 146 strokes. He stayed competitive during his tournament as he tallied a 73 on each day. Kyaw had the third-most Pars at the tournament with 27.
Also competing for the Kingsmen was Zac Stout and Drake Jones. In his first collegiate tournament, Stout tied for 49th. He fired a 72 in his first round, but shot a 77 in the second for a score of 5-over-par with 149 strokes. Jones rounded out CLU as he tied for 97th at 21-over-par (83-82-165).
The Royal Lakes Fall Invitational was the final tournament of the fall for the Kingsmen. CLU starts back up in the spring.
