Kingsmen Fall to Colorado College

DENVER— Colorado College shot 50.9-percent from the field as they defeated Cal Lutheran men's basketball 77-54 on Saturday night.

The Kingsmen struggled from the field, going 19-of-57 from the field and 7-for-28 behind the three-point arc. The Tigers took the early lead by shooting 44.8-percent in the first half and followed it up with 57-percent in the second half.

Cal Lutheran had a balanced attack as 12 Kingsmen scored. Carlton Brown led the way with 12 points and Palmer Chaplin joined him in double-digits with 10.

Connor Cole came up big on the glass, tallying four offensive rebounds, and had seven in total. The Kingsmen moved the ball around as Chaplin had a team-high three assists and Brown was next with two. 

The Tigers held the advantage in rebounds (41-to-28), points in the paint (32-to-20) and assists (21-9).

Cal Lutheran had it rolling at the beginning as the Kingsmen took a 10-6 lead after a three-pointer by brown. Colorado Col. Fired back with an 8-0 run and took the lead 14-10. The teams exchanged the lead over the next few minutes until the Tigers took a 17-16 lead. 

CC tallied another costly run, this one 9-0 as the led the Kingsmen 26-16 with 5:13 left. The Tigers kept the distance the rest of the first half and were up 32-20 at the break. CLU could not recover after the first half deficit as Colorado Col. Won the game 77-54.

Next up for the Kingsmen (1-3) is their home opener. Cal Lutheran welcomes Hamilton on Friday at 7 p.m.
