Cole Named Academic All-District

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.— Cal Lutheran senior Austin Cole was selected to the Division III Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team which was announced Thursday morning by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The native of Redondo Beach, Calif., carries a 3.75 grade point average (GPA) while pursuing a major in business administration. With earning a spot on the Academic All-District Team, Cole advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot which will be announced on March 13.

Over his four-year career with the Kingsmen, Cole has started 82 games and played in 91. He has scored 1,383 points which are the seventh-most in program history and has made 296 free throws which are the eighth-most. He has a shooting percentage of .419 from the field and has added 330 rebounds, 174 assists and 79 steals. This year, he is averaging 18.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. 

The Google Cloud Academic All-District teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions – Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form. An athlete must have completed one full calendar year at their institution and reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
