THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. Kyle Ferreira put up a near triple-double with 30 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists, but it was enough as the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen were defeated by the Pacific Boxers 126-111 Thursday night.

Ferreira notched a career-high in all three categories. He was 10-17 from the field and 2-5 from the three-point line.

Cal Lutheran (5-5) had three players score 20-plus points and two more scored in double-digits. Michael Wadsworth scored a career-high with 28 points and was an impressive 12-17 from the field.

Austin Cole scored the third-most with 20 points on 50-percent shooting. He was one rebound shy of a double-double and led the team with nine. Palmer Chaplin was next with 16 points and Jared Wulbrun had 13. Chaplin was 3-4 on three-pointers and Wulbrun was 2-3.

The Kingsmen dished out 29 assists in all. After Ferreira's eight, Chaplin, Cole and Wadsworth each had five and Wulbrun had four.

Cal Lutheran was outshot 94 to 71 from the field. The Boxers had all the extra shots due to 16 offensive rebounds. The downfall for the Violet and Gold was turnovers as Pacific forced them into 26.

The first 10 minutes of the game went back and forth as there were five lead changes. The score continued to be close for most of the half and the Kingsmen were up 41-38 after three-straight free throws by Wulbrun. The Boxers fought back and ended the half on an 18-10 run and took a 56-51 lead at the break.

Pacific opened the second half with a run as well. This one was 10-2 as the Boxers took a double-digit lead at 66-53. The Kingsmen were able to cut the lead to single-digits twice, just under the 10-minute mark, but Pacific answered and pushed the lead back over 10. Pacific held the lead the rest of the game and won the contest with a final score of 126-111.

Cal Lutheran continues the season at home and host Lewis & Clarke Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
