Pulley Sets School Record for Tackles in Division 3 Era; Earns AOW

ALISO VIEJO, Calif.– This afternoon the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the Week 6 Athlete of the Week honorees and Cal Lutheran linebacker Ethan Pulley was selected as the Football Defensive Athlete of the Week. This is the second time this year that Pulley has earned the award.

Pulley set the Cal Lutheran Division III era record for most tackles in a game with 22 against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday. Six of those tackles were solo and also included a tackle for loss of two yards.

A junior from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Pulley led the defense against the Stags. On top of all the tackles, he recorded two quarterback hits.

The defense only allowed 251 total yards, 3.7 yards per play, in a hard-fought 17-10 loss. CLU kept the CMS passing locked down and only allowed 52 passing yards, a season-low for the defense. The Stags only competed 5-of-15 passing attempts and were 5-of-15 on third-down conversions.

The SCIAC Athlete of the Week series is released each Monday throughout the academic year.
