Tim Ward is starting his third season with the Cal Lutheran track & field teams and coaches the javelin throwers, pole-vaulters and multies.

All of Ward's athletes have achieved personal records each of his season’s working with them, with a number of them moving into the top five of CLU record books.

Ward has coached for over 25 years, in track & field, soccer and karate. He is a National Youth Coach, FIFA coach and USATF Track coach. He was the vault and hurdle coach at Malibu High School for eight years prior to joining CLU, and seven of those eight years he took multiple vaulters and hurdlers to CIF Finals and USATF National Championships.

Ward attended Florida State University, and was a 4-year varsity member of the FSU track & field team that went on a 15-year run as conference champions. He pole-vaulted and ran the decathlon for FSU, where he made the podium twice at conference championships, placing third in the decathlon.

After college, Ward vaulted as an elite with Bud-Lite Track America Club. While competing, he also volunteered as the javelin & multi coach at Emory University. After retiring from vaulting, Ward was a partner in a sports marketing that specialized in track & field and created one of the first pro track and field circuits the US.
