Cal Lutheran Garners Five SCIAC Athlete of the Week Honors

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — California Lutheran University student-athletes Daniel BurgosBo DuBoisTess HolbertEric Talbert and Davis Sharts were selected Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday morning. 

Burgos (Palmdale, Calif.) is a kicker/punter for the football team. The sophomore handled all the kicking duties in Cal Lutheran 32-31 overtime loss with Southwestern over the weekend. He made one field goal and two extra points, while punting the ball four times for 129 yards. He averaged 32.3 yards per punt, with a long of 48, and put three inside the 20. 

DuBois (Oceanside, Calif.) is a goalkeeper for men's water polo and helped the Kingsmen defeated Division I Bucknell for the first time in program history. In total, the freshman made 22 saves and had two steals as the Kingsmen went 2-2 at the Navy Open. 

Holbert (Oxnard, Calif.) is a setter on the Regals volleyball team. The Regals faced top-notch competition and the junior shined brightly. She averaged 13 kills, 113 assist (7.06 per set), 35 digs (2.19 per set) eight blocks and eight aces. She recorded two double-doubles in four games. 

Talbert (Simi Valley, Calif.) is on the men's cross country team and was a top finisher at the Moorpark College Open. The Kingsmen placed third, out of seven teams, with a score of 78. The sophomore led the way, placing seventh, with a time of 21 minutes and 48.81 seconds.

Sharts (Simi Valley, Calif.) is a goalkeeper for men's soccer. The senior helped the Kingsmen to a record of 1-0-1 and was between the posts the entire time. He made six saves, with a save percentage of .857, and only allowed one goal. He recorded a shutout against Macalester.
