For the first time in her collegiate career, Annette Sousa was selected as the CLU Female Athlete of the Week. In a pair of non-conference matches against Principia (Ill.) and scholarship Concordia-Irvine during the week of March 9-15, the first year player earned four wins in as many chances. On Friday against PC, she teamed up with Emily Werman for an 8-2 victory before going on to earn the first singles point for the team with a 6-1, 6-0 win on court No. 6. Less than 24 hours later she came back to again open with a doubles point alongside Werman as the duo executed their strategy for another 8-2 win. Sousa clinched the team match with her third set tiebreaker, in extra points, winning 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 in the 90* heat at the Poulson Tennis Center.
