Despite heavy rains during the Sunshine Open at Westmont College on Saturday morning, junior harrier Ryan Perez broke the Cal Lutheran men's track and field 3,000m record by clocking a 8:54.38 as one of two Kingsmen to finish under the previous mark of 9:02.71 set by Ray Ostrander in 2010. Perez's time was more than a 27 second improvement from his mark a week ago in the season opener as he lowered his PR to 9:22.94 on the same track.
