Playing under the weather with the flu, Jake Petersen started the weekend at the SCIAC Post Season Tournament in the DH role against La Verne, threw a complete game while batting third in a win over Chapman on Saturday and came back on Sunday as the left fielder to contribute in the clincher. Overall, he hit .571 with eight hits and a walk, scoring four times while also recording a win on the hill. Against the Leos he singled in the first inning and scored one of four runs. Later in the game he hustled out a pair of infield singles for a three-hit game in an 8-5 victory. Saturday, he took the ball and threw a complete game, near shutout, scattering nine hits and two runs while striking out five Panthers. At the plate he aided his own cause with two hits, a walk and a run. In the tournament finale, Petersen produced another three-hit game with a fourth inning double and two runs scored and two putouts in the outfield as No. 7 Cal Lutheran advanced to the NCAA Division III Playoffs for the second consecutive year.
