Senior infielder Nicho DellaValle led the No. 9 Kingsmen to a 4-0 week and a second consecutive SCIAC baseball title as CLU claimed its 11th crown in program history. At the plate, he hit at a .538 clip in four games with seven hits, which included a triple, for nine total bases. Additionally, he walked three times and was hit by a pitch for a .647 on base percentage. He stole a base and scored six times while also driving in a pair. DellaValle had a 3-for-4 game against CMS on Wednesday, scoring four times in a 15-3 shellacking. Saturday at Redlands he was 2-for-4 and reached base a trio of times. He also reached three times on Sunday against La Verne, following up by reaching twice against Caltech in just two innings, scoring a run in the first and driving one in in the second on a fielder's choice. Playing both shortstop and second base, he came up with a perfect fielding percentage, contributing with a putout and 10 assists. On Sunday, he made back-to-back stellar defensive plays late in the game to help guide the Violet and Gold to a 10-5 win over La Verne. DellaValle is a four-year starter and leader both on and off the field.
