Jake Petersen continues to control baseball games on the hill and at the plate. Not only did he earn his fifth win of the spring for the No. 7 Kingsmen, he was also 8-for-13 for a .615 average with eight RBIs and seven runs scored in a weekend sweep of Whittier. The Southpaw opened the series with a 7.0 inning performance in which he struck out five and aided his own cause with a 3-for-4 day at the plate, adding a walk and scoring three times. In the first game on Saturday the right fielder was 4-for-5, with five RBIs while scoring four times from the leadoff spot. He also walked once to reach base in all six at-bats. During the series finale he got on base four times and drove in three runs on a two-RBI single in the sixth before drawing a bases loaded walk in the seventh. Defensively, he had four putouts and three assists, which included a phenomenal play on a bunt, after he picked off a runner at first from the mound on Friday. He is batting .476 for the season with a 5-1 record on the hill.
