Jake Petersen hit .625 in five games this week also earning a victory in his only outing on the mound. After CLU leadoff man Ronnie Burton went down with an injury, Petersen assumed the leadoff role and produced at the plate in all five games. He was 10-for-16 with three doubles, a triple and a homerun while drawing four walks. Petersen drove in six runs and scored 12 times for the Kingsmen as they posted a 5-0 record. On the base paths he was 3-for-3 in stolen bases. On the hill, he threw 3.0 shutout innings against Caltech with three strikeouts. In the field he was perfect with four putouts and an assist. CLU opened the week with wins over Gustavus Adolphus and Luther at the Tucson Invitational and went on to sweep Caltech to remain alone in first place.
