Nicholas Ballou helped to lead the No. 11 Cal Lutheran men's tennis team to a third place finish at the ITA Division III National Men's Tennis Team Indoor Championships last weekend in Minnesota. The senior, 2012 national runner-up, upset the No. 1, 4 and 5 players in the country from Trinity (Tex.), Kenyon and Johns Hopkins, respectively. Ballou cruised past No. 1 Aaron Skinner, 6-1, 6-1, beat No. 4 Paul Burgins, 6-4, 6-1, and defeated No. 5 Andy Hersh 6-4, 6-2. Additionally, in doubles play he and Ray Worley tore past No. 4 Tanner Brown and Erik Lim from JHU by an 8-2 margin. Against Kenyon the duo won 8-4. In the upcoming rankings by the ITA, Ballou should be ranked amongst the nation's best players.
