Julea Juarez, Women's Track & Field

Juarez anchored two relay victories and won the 400 meters at the 2012 SCIAC Track & Field Championships (April 27-28) this past weekend. She was also a key member of the first Regals team to ever earn any part of the conference title.

Juarez teamed up with Lauren Rasmussen, Lauren Rohach, and Melissa Muntzel to break the 4x400-meter relay SCIAC meet record that had stood for 14 years. She teamed up with Kendall Sauter, Amy Galipeau, and Taryn Thordarson to eke out a victory in the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 48.44.

Juarez set a personal record in the 400 meter prelims with a time of 57.19. Her finals time of 57.60 seconds still won the event by nearly 1.5 seconds over the rest of the field.

She became the first woman in Cal Lutheran history to finish in under 25 seconds for th 200 meters (24.91) during the preliminary heats. Juarez went on to finish second in the event and contributed through relays or individual finishes a total of 38 points.
